Look at the face before you look at the god. The Allfather is a close portrait of Odin painted the way an old master would have painted a general — one pale blue eye holding yours, a leather patch over the other, and every line of a very long life cut into the skin around them.

He is hooded in dark cloth threaded with gold. His beard is grey and plaited into heavy braids bound with metal rings, several cords ending in small bone charms. A knotwork brooch closes the cloak at one shoulder; a ring and chain hold it at the other. A faint circle of carved runes glows behind his head. And at each shoulder sits a raven, rendered feather by feather — Huginn on the right, Muninn on the left, both watching.

PRINT OPTIONS

You can bring this piece home in the format that suits your space:

• POSTER PRINT — professional-grade 200 GSM matte photo paper, UV-resistant archival inks, shipped rolled in a protective tube and ready to frame your way.
• STRETCHED CANVAS — gallery-wrapped over a sturdy 1.25" frame with a black border for extra depth and contrast, hanging hardware pre-installed.
• FRAMED CANVAS — your stretched canvas finished in a solid wood frame in your choice of colour, with hardware already fitted. The frame adds roughly 1/2" on each side.

Every format uses fade- and UV-resistant archival inks on sustainably sourced materials, so the deep browns hold and the gold keeps its glint.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

• It is painted as a portrait, not a poster. The light falls from one side across a weathered face, leaving most of the frame in warm shadow — an odin and ravens portrait canvas for a home office that reads as a painting from across the room.
• The detail is human before it is mythic: the ring-bound braids, the bone charms on the beard cords, the gold thread in the hood, the heavy knotwork brooch, the worn leather of the eyepatch.
• The single visible eye is the whole composition. Pale blue, level, entirely unhurried — it holds you from anywhere in the room, which is exactly what a portrait at this scale should do.
• Both ravens are fully realised rather than suggested: sharp beaks, individually worked feathers, one in crisp focus and one falling back into the gloom behind his shoulder.
• Behind his head, a ring of carved runes glows faintly out of the dark — the only overt piece of mythology in the frame, and all the stronger for being the only one.
• Deep brown, black and old gold is a warm and liveable palette. A dark oil painting style norse god print sits comfortably in a study, a home office, a library corner or above a desk, with no need to theme the rest of the room around it.

A WORD FROM US

Odin gave an eye for a drink from a well, and hanged himself from a tree for nine nights to learn the runes. Whatever else that makes him, it makes him someone who paid up front. We wanted a portrait that showed the bill rather than the power — no raised spear, no throne, just an old man in a hood who has been to some places and come back knowing things. The ravens do the rest. Explore the rest of our Norse and Viking collection for more, and reach out any time — we're always happy to help you find your fit.

Please note: due to differences in monitor settings and display calibration, actual print colors may vary slightly from what you see on screen.
