A snake sheds its entire skin and walks away from it. The moon does effectively the same thing every twenty-nine days. Celestial Serpent puts the two in one frame and lets you draw the line yourself.

The snake climbs the centre of the composition in a long S, iridescent purple-blue scales catching gold, tiny stars and crescents scattered across its back, head raised at the top with the mouth slightly open. Behind it, a full ring of moon phases arcs from bottom-left up over the top and down the right side, each one lit gold against deep plum. Between them: foxgloves, cosmos, peonies, bellflowers and lilac umbels, threaded with fine gold filigree stems.

PRINT OPTIONS

You can bring this piece home in the format that suits your space:

• POSTER PRINT — professional-grade 200 GSM matte photo paper, UV-resistant archival inks, shipped rolled in a protective tube and ready to frame your way.
• STRETCHED CANVAS — gallery-wrapped over a sturdy 1.25" frame with a black border for extra depth and contrast, hanging hardware pre-installed.
• FRAMED CANVAS — your stretched canvas finished in a solid wood frame in your choice of colour, with hardware already fitted. The frame adds roughly 1/2" on each side.

Every format uses fade- and UV-resistant archival inks on sustainably sourced materials, so the gold holds against the deep plum ground.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

• The snake is beautifully painted rather than stylised: individually rendered scales shifting from indigo to violet, gold rimming along the coils, a pale blue eye, and constellations of tiny stars and crescents dusted across its back.
• The moon phases form a complete ring, not a row — waxing up the left side, full at the top with a gold eight-pointed star beneath it, waning down the right — so the whole composition reads as one closed cycle.
• The flowers are real species and worth the close look: purple foxglove spires, magenta cosmos, a deep plum peony, clustered bellflowers, lilac umbels and a large magenta bloom at the lower right, all laced with fine gold filigree stems and leaves.
• Deep plum, indigo and antique gold, on a nebula ground that shifts from violet to near-black — a celestial serpent wall art piece that sits with dark walls and warm metals without any effort.
• The tall column composition is a genuine placement solution. A tall narrow snake and moon phase print for a stairwell, the strip beside a doorway, a chimney breast, or above a headboard — the awkward walls nobody writes copy for.
• It gives well to anyone marking a change: a witchy snake and wildflower canvas for a bedroom, or a quiet transformation gift for someone who came out the other side of something.

A WORD FROM US

The shed skin is the part worth thinking about. It comes off whole — eye caps and all — and what is left behind is a perfect hollow copy of the animal, lying in the grass, while the snake itself is somewhere else entirely and slightly brighter than before. People have been using that image for renewal for about as long as they have been using the moon for the same thing. We simply put them in the same picture and let them agree with each other. Explore the rest of our whimsigoth and celestial collection for more, and reach out any time.
