This is not a bookshelf. It is a room built on the assumption that knowledge deserves architecture. The Long Gallery is dark academia wall art of a vast candlelit library hall — two storeys of shelving climbing past fluted columns to a balustraded upper gallery, long reading tables buried under stacked volumes, and a great arched passage at the far end opening onto another lit room beyond.

Everything recedes. The perspective pulls from the marble bust in the near corner all the way down the hall to a chandelier burning in the next chamber, and the whole thing is lit by candle — tapers on the tables, candelabra on the floor, a glow along the gallery rail. A large landscape dark academia canvas for above the sofa, and one of the few in the genre built wide enough to earn the wall.

PRINT OPTIONS

You can bring this piece home in the format that suits your space:

• POSTER PRINT — professional-grade 200 GSM matte photo paper, UV-resistant archival inks, shipped rolled in a protective tube and ready to frame your way.
• STRETCHED CANVAS — gallery-wrapped over a sturdy 1.25" frame with a black border for extra depth and contrast, hanging hardware pre-installed.
• FRAMED CANVAS — your stretched canvas finished in a solid wood frame in your choice of colour, with hardware already fitted. The frame adds roughly 1/2" on each side.

Every format uses fade- and UV-resistant archival inks on sustainably sourced materials, so the candlelight keeps its warmth and the shadows keep their depth.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

• It is a piece about architecture rather than books. Two-storey shelving, fluted columns, a carved balustraded gallery running the upper level, and a painted lunette above the far arch — the room is doing the work, and the volumes are simply what fills it.
• The depth is real. One-point perspective carries the eye from the marble bust on its pedestal in the left foreground, down the length of the tables, through the arched passage, into a further candlelit room with a chandelier and a mirror. It reads as a window, not a picture.
• Every light source is a flame. Tapers stand burning directly on the reading tables among the paper and inkstands, brass candelabra hold a dozen more, and the polished parquet throws all of it back in long reflections.
• Deep brown, amber, parchment and shadow is a warm and genuinely liveable palette — a grand candlelit library print for a home office, a study, a living room with character, or a hallway that ought to feel like a threshold.
• Wide format is the whole commercial argument: this is what goes above a sofa, along a landing, or over a long sideboard, where a portrait print simply cannot reach.
• Black and espresso frames lean fully into the old-world mood; natural oak warms the wood tones; white presents it as a cleaner, more contemporary take.

A WORD FROM US

A long gallery was the great processional room of an English house — built long and lit down one side, made for walking the length of on a wet afternoon. We liked applying that idea to a library: not a room you sit in so much as one you move through, with the far door always promising another. Everything here is lit by candle because a room like this has never really belonged to daylight. Explore the rest of our dark academia collection for more, and reach out any time — we're always happy to help you find your fit.
