In her right hand: a tall wooden staff, worn smooth at the grip by decades of use, topped with a carved bird's-head finial bound in cord and feather — a diviner's tool, not a weapon. She stands among ancient carved standing stones in a mist-hung clearing, her face tilted up into a green aurora spreading through broken cloud. Below, a snow-capped range holds a small lit Viking settlement at the edge of a still lake.
